This is one of the coolest places I’ve ever been in our province. I admit I love to go places but asked myself also why go to far places when in fact we have such nice destinations close to our city like the now known Britania Islands located in the province of Surigao del Sur. It is a three-hour ride from my beloved hometown Butuan City. Of course, this will makes Caraga Region famous when precious white coral islands discovered facing the Pacific Ocean.
And when I saw the place for the first time, I can’t believe that we have a very, very awesome spot! These pictures simply show how amazing the place is. It is really breath-taking to see those small islands with white sands, because we did island hopping, and witnessed one island to another. The clear blue water was so tempting for anyone would like to go swimming and snorkelling. I could smell the sea breeze and hear the slashing waves hitting the shoreline while walking different islands. This makes Caraga Travel so full of fun and excitement.

Britania Islands Clusters Of 25 Islands And Islets
Britania Islands was composed of unspoiled 25 white coral islands and islets of sugary white sand and clusters of limestones hills. It lured me and my friends as we take our journey using rented pump boat seeing different islands, mangroves, and rock formations. You can also do bird watching and caving if you wish because you can do a lot of things here enjoying yourself with nature.
I’m not into caving but this one…romantic place for lovers and would-be lovers.

I feel so lucky that once in my life I witnessed the beauty of God’s creation that I have never been. So rewarding because in the prime of my life I was able see the beauty of nature with the help of my friends of course. It is really a cool, serene place with such a nice view. Every island is unique. There is even a white island with nothing on it but white crystal like sand. And it is really amazing to be there realizing that it’s only a few hours from our city.
We bought fresh fishes and the local residents from there cooked for our lunch. We rented pump boats because it is the mode of transportation going from one island to another. By the way, I spent less than a thousand Philippine pesos for this wonderful, priceless experience.
We were planning to come back there soon.

Is there like a beach in britannia thats not off the main island of mindanao or are all the beaches in another island?i do have an issue riding a boat thats why i ask
no problems regarding renting a boat in going to britania. yes, so many beautiful beaches without heading to an islands like cagwait white beach.

its better to have in groups you can have less in cost. 500 pesos per boat more or less at least accommodate 12 persons. sorry for the late reply.

estimated one hour plus lang to britania while two hours to cagwait. the name of the beach is cagwait white beach, and you can choose many cottages piling up, not particular with the price tag but u can choose from very affordable to luxurius resorts

Great pics, I was there in August 2011. Had a very nice trip in a pumpboat out to the islands. Stunning beaches and islands. There is construction going on there to add more accomidation for tourists. Good for about 3 nites and take day 2 trips out to the islands. We stayed at the big resort the first night and went to a smaller one the second. The big resort (sorry, dont remember the names.) was rather impersonal, the staff was just sitting around and I think thats where I got food poisioning cause its the last place I ate before I got sick. They didnt seem too interested in us, just the TV in the resteraunt. But at the smaller places the people were very friendly and gracious. I can recommend visiting the area if you are in this part of Mindanau.

im based in cebu now but im visting my home town in Bayugan City, Agusan del Sur this Feb and i’m with a friend. we wanted to go to Britannia but we dont know how. can u tell the detailed trip direction and possible fare. we wont be staying overnight though but balak namin mag island hopping pero 2 lang kami. mahal ba?
bayugan is just almost an hour to britania in a shortcut road los arcos, prosperidad. dependa yan kung dalawa lang kayo 1200 ang maliit na banca (which 9 person ang makasakay). happy island hopping 🙂

yes, from butuan city bus terminal enroute to tandag city and ask the driver or his assistant to drop you in barangay britania town of san agustin along the highway. then went inside for to to three kms from highway to reach britania shoreline. it will take you estimated three hours to reach britania by bus. or 2 hours by van.
sir, you said 1 hour lng ang travel from Mangagoy to Britania, but nung ng punta kmi dya’n almost 3 hours or 4 hours ang travel nmin. we’re from Mangagoy. We depart here from 5:00 am and we reach Britania mga 8-9:00am
one hour plus or almost 2 hours dahil malakas ang takbo ng sasakyan namin non-stop.

Wow. I like this blog, pati ang blogger kasi nagre-reply talaga sa comments. Okay po kaya ang itinerary na galing Davao – Bislig – Hinatuan- Britannia – Sohoton Caves? Or the other way around? How many hours po ang layo ng Hinatuan/Bislig sa Britannia?
hindi ko alam kung may kalsada direktang papuntang bislig from davao. pero kung galing davao papuntang bislig via san franz mauna mo mabisita ang hinatuan enchanted river before going to bislig. then balik sa daan from bislig to britania, san agustin town to visit britania islands between 2 to 3 hrs. kung sohoton cove dapat diretso ang travel from britania to noventa (boundary between surigao norte and sur) hanggang hayanggabon port sa claver town doon makita mo na ang bucas grande islands. patawid ka na lang for 30 minutes to reach sohoton cove.

hello po.. inquire ko po, gumagawa po kc ako ng itinerary namin for april. sa davao city po kc kami niyan nakabook ng flight but wanting to visit enchanted caves, tinuy-an falls in surigao del sur and do island hopping in britannia. is it possible to visit all of these in a day like will be leaving in davao city by 2am kc yun po ata pinakamaagang bus trip from davao to surigao base sa naresearch ko then just leave surigao del sur at around 6pm? yun nga lang po i’m not sure kung anong oras yung last trip ng bus from surigao del sur back to davao city. thank you.

okay naman yung itinerary mo, siguro between enchanted river and tinuy-an falls medyo mahirap na dyan na parte kung naka bus ka lang kasi putol yung travel mo palagi at saka pag papasok ka sa tinuy-an falls from bislig proper almost 1 hour to get into the center of the forest to witness tinuy-an falls hahanap ka pa ng sasakyan. good luck ryx. adventure lang naman yan e hehe.

bislig city ang last trip mo going to davao hindi ko alam kung may direkta sila davao. siguro ang importante dyan makalabas kayo galing bislig kahit anong sasakyan either van or bus sigurado may sasakyan till 7 going san franz.. then san franz to davao.

depende yan pero sa alam ko 1200 to 1500 for 12 peoples boat rides to the islands. sa accommodation naman yung pinakamalapit na resort la entrada resort is 1kto2k yata per room per night depende sa area ng room lalo na ngayon summer malakas ang demand siguro may changes sa price. affordable naman ang kanilang pagkain. sa mga cottages naman 150 php per cottages.

yun ang maganda isang araw bawat spot para ma feel mo talaga ang ganda ng lugar. okay naman po ang itinerary. maganda ang tinuy-an falls sa month ng january at february dahil maulan. sa first day siguro travel time starts at 4am estimated 7-8 hours to bislig para makita ang falls whole afternoon. next stop 2nd day enchanted river travel time 6am to reach at 7am for two hours stay then travel to britania at 9 to reach before 12. dapat mo ma consume ang britania the whole afternoon kasi sasakay kapa para sa mga isla. 3rd day dapat 6am to reach hayanggabon at estimated time 10am then tatawid ng 30 minutes para sohoton. dapat van for hire ang sakay nyo para diretso na.

been to britania last december for the office’s team building activity, particularly at La Entrada Resort owned by Vice Gov. Almeda i think…. nice gracious hosts…. enjoy the islets! superb white sands, soooo powdery, clean, undisturbed, natural beauty……

First, thanks so much for writing this very informative blog about Britania! It makes me want to just pack my bags and go! =))) My family is in the works of planning a road trip by the end of the month by going to surigao del sur then onwards to Cdo & bukidnon then back to Davao =))) We are looking towards visiting Tinuy-An & the Enchanted river on the 1st day (leaving Davao by 4am using a private vehicle) then Britania on the 2nd day before we push on to CdO on the 3rd day. My question is, is it possible for us to visit tinuy-an & hinatuan in one day then probably spend the night in la entrada (if i can get a confirmed room booking!) would you suggest we stay at la entrada or kansilad in preparation for the whole day island hopping my kids are raring to go to at the britania islets?

pia your itinerary is the best probably you can reach hinatuan enchanted river between 10 to 11am and witness not just the jade river but the magical fishes that comes out at 12 noon. you can proceed to tinuy-an falls at 1pm to reach at almost 3pm. reminiscing there for 2 hours leaving at 5pm probably you can reach britania estimated time 8pm. my suggestion is la entrada since the second day you are there in the morning facing the islands.

from britania, san agustin to butuan city estimated 2 hours using shortcut road from lianga exit los arcos, properidad. then butuan city to cdo for 3 hours plus.

Ooooops! One more question, please sir dandee! =) where would you suggest we rent a boat for the island hopping? I inquired with La Entrada and they will charge 1500 (one way) for our family of six pax. Hmmmm….is that fair? I find it quite expensive for what they said is a “one way fare with 2 hours tour” i was hoping an an 8 to 3 (or 4pm) rental (my kids are beach bums!) kasi! Thank you so much again!!
there are other boats services nearby to inquire sa may unahan yata ng la entrada. hope they are not competing the same. paki ask lang of others who are visiting where they rent. yung siguradong my lifejackets.

Hi. I’m from Cagayan de Oro. My friends and I are planning to visit Tinuy-an Falls, Enchanted River and Britania Group of Islands. I would want to know which spot should would we take first, if we are to take the bus via Butuan? and for how long should we stay in every destination? Is it advisable to stay longer in Surigao, or we can finish the whole tour in 2-3 days?
Should we stay in Kansilad for the rest of the nights or should we transfer whenever necessary?
I’ve done research and read some of the comments here in your blog; so far I’ve got very good information.

yes kel if you are in cdo you should take bus via butuan and that is estimated 4 to 5 hours. then another 4 hours in hinatuan to stay for a night for tomorrow it is better to witness hinatuan enchanted river in the morning up to noon then went to tinuy-an falls for almost 3 hours then stay at bislig city. then on the second day travel at 6 am to reach britania at 9am or 10am. it is better to have island hopping in the morning up to noon. much better if you used private vehicle.

We will be there on good Friday it is possible sir to visit enchated river or in tiny an falls? And after that we will vising bretania. what accommodation you prefer for 6 adults and 3 kids in bislig and on sat. We will visit britania till Monday morning.
yes it is possible visiting enchanted river and tinuy-an falls. since you have three days visit friday will be on enchanted as i suggest and stay for a night in bislig city for tomorrows (saturday) tinuy-an falls. i don’t have idea regarding accommodation in bislig but there are hotels/penthouse to stay. then at afternoon travel to britania will take 3 hours and stay at night may be la entrada or kansilad and take island hopping in the morning on sunday.

and lastly, is it necessary to drop-by at the tourism office first before taking the Britania tour?

kel nahati kasi sa dalawang road ang surigao del sur diyan po sa parte ng barobo, pakaliwa papuntang tandag city at pakanan papuntang bislig city, pag punta ka sa britania pakaliwa ka daan papuntang tandag o kung sa enchanted river at tinuy-an falls pakanan daan papuntang bislig. kung mag stay ka sa kansilad resort for the whole spots mukhang malayo kana sa enchanted river at tinuy-an kasi ang kansilad resort nasa lianga malapit lang sa britania. kung bus estimate ko lang hindi siguro aabot 500php, (not sure at least) hindi ko lang alam may direkta ba na bus galing davao to bislig siguro drop points san franz then bislig.
ang enchanted river malapit lang siya galing highway mukhang one ride lang of trisikel or habalhabal, no need for tourism assistance in britania. tinuy-an kailangan siguro ng tourism assistance sa kanilang city hall kasi almost one hour pa to reach tinuy-an falls from bislig proper to the center of the forest.
BTW, since we’re changing route. Is it a good idea if we visit enchanted river first then go straight to tinuy-an in the afternoon. Then on the 2nd day, Britania? Baka kase pa balik2x yung route namin. san ba ang mas malapit if coming from Davao or if coming from Kansilad beach resort? or coming from Butuan?

the same pa rin kung galing davao. pinakamalapit ang britania sa kanilang tatlo, lalo na dito sa butuan 2 hours lang ang britania sa may short cut road los arcos (private vehicle) pero advise ko lang dapat unahin mo na lang ang pagbisita ang enchanted river then tinuy-an falls then consume the next day in the morning ang britania kasi maganda ang britania pag morning up to noon.

Sir we been to Britania last sat. And we had our island hoping last Sunday morning , I just want to say what a beautiful mindanao. Britania is AMAZINGGGGGG. What a beautiful white sand and superb clean blue green water. Just one of the many beautiful creation from our GOD. We really injoy and had a good time in your place. I really hope that the local government of San agustin as well as the province of surigao del sur well promote and protect the places were tourist usually comes like britania group of islands, enchanted river, tiny an falls and etc… I see some visitors in britania sir gets sea creatures like star fish and sea urchin and bring it with them just for souviniers . I hope it well be regulated and strongly push that it is prohibited and punishable because If it well not be regulate by maybe in the future the charm of the island will vanish…. And the tourist will not come anymore.

hello yammie yes you can rent a van in butuan but dont know much the price tag. from butuan to kansilad beach resort, lianga will take estimated 3 hours (but if you use short cut los arcos prosperidad estimated 2 hours). you can stay in kansilad for being close to britania and can go to enchanted river estimated 2-3 hours. while sohoton is much far away since its in bucas grande islands closer to siargao islands.

ang mining ay nakapaligid sa buong caraga region. wala pa po akong narinig malapit sa san agustin. hope and pray mining operation stop in caraga region. nasisira po ang magandang lugar ng caraga sumasakit po ang dibdib ko makita ang sirang bukirin at mapupulang dagat 🙁

hi dandee…we been in tenuy-an falls last april 14 and our rout is from davao to tinuy-an falls then back to inchanted river….we werenot satisfied for just 2 hours in inchanted river…so i suggest to those who are asking you to visit one place per day for a good tour result…we really injoyed our tour and still lanning to return ans by this time…visit britanica island…thanks to richard miguel who is the owner of the van we rent….he is so kind and accomodating…and maybe it is really easy to travel going to those places with private vihecle because it is really far from davao…and from bislig highway going to tenuy-an falls you will travel one and a half hour more because of the rough road going there….it is 15 km away from highway…and the enchanteds river is 18 kilometers away from highway….it is also a rough road…but we injoy lalo na sa falls…mawawala talaga ang pagod mo pagdatin mo don…napakaganda…grabe

yes hayanggabon port sa claver town dahil pinakamalapit ito tatawid to sohoton cove. dalawang resort ang nandyan hidden island resort and club tara resort to stay then have their boats to go spots you have mentioned. estimated 3-4 hours reaching hayanggabon from britania using private vehicle.

pwede po naman derecho na to sohoton cove tour then later na yung britania kasi may bahay naman kayo doon. dapat 4am start na travel from butuan to shoton para makauwi agad nang maaga pabalik butuan at 6 pm.

We are a family of 7, two young children, 3 young adults and two middle age looking for family cottage in 1000 php a night. Is there a listing of accommodations besides the ones you mention earlier with lower rates for a night stay in that area on a beach? Also, we have travelled many places in the Philippines and never paid more than 1500 peso per day for boat rental all day trips. Is the information added earlier accurate about 1500 php for only one or two hours? Places like El Nido give you all day island hoping with lagoons, snorkel, and lunch for that amount.
Also I read lately rebel activity in the area with gun battle and arrests of NPA officer. Is this not a cause to worry a little travelling there?
Can you assist in naming places lower priced in the area and confirm boat prices?

sorry don’t have listing accommodations, during our visit last year only two beach resort were known and maybe existed, kansilad beach resort in lianga and on-going construction la entrada resorts at britania. but during our boat trip its a whole trip to the islands you want to go not an hourly basis, may be they take advantage due to many tourists visiting britania now. it is better to call la entrada with their numbers 09499719630 or 09218078974 to have info more regarding rates and accommodations.
i have not heard npa problems, only in some parts in surigao del norte due to mining activities.

last year it was only 10 php as the entrance fee in la entrada, and at the ends is a cottage or rest house for 200 php facing the islands. i dont know the fix price since prices changes due to increasing tourist demands. why not call la entrada’s cell no. 09499719630
